AMI Filangieri Smart Museum is the first App of the Filangieri Museum for the use of visit routes through the use of IoT sensors. A new model of interaction between the user and the museum environment is defined, whose purpose is to increase the visitors interest and make the stay in the museum more enjoyable.
The visitor, entering the museum, will be able to learn the history of each work in an innovative way through different sensory experiences and interface with new forms of interaction with the objects that surround it. The use of IoT sensors to support the museum visit offers an accurate informative support to the different works present in the museum context (whether single or a group) without precluding the exciting beauty of the direct visit.
Simply approaching one of the works that belongs to one of the visit itineraries: "The strong pieces" and "Filangieri family"; the artwork, playing an active role within the fruition phase, communicates something to the interested user. The revaluation of the role of the work is technologically supported by sensors that give it "the word". In this vision, the work goes beyond the classic passive role to become an active part of the context. Moreover, the App also proposes the "Catalog" mode by which to view all the works as in the paper version. To each of them is associated a cataloging card accompanied by informative contents such as text, audio, images.
All contents are managed by a cataloging platform that allows downloading depending on the path requested by the user. Once the contents have been downloaded, the use is also available off-line for the downloaded path. Subsequent downloads will be requested only for updates on the contents already downloaded.
In the "Discover the work" section, a sort of "treasure hunt" is created: users will have to find a series of works in sequence and the work to be researched will be suggested from time to time to go ahead in the visit. Also in this case the use of proximity techniques and appropriate sensors will be able to verify that the user is actually in the vicinity of the sought-after work. At each interaction the app offers a set of works that is always different and randomly generated from the collection of the chosen path, in order to make the experience more dynamic and interesting.
AMI Filangieri Smart Museum wants to amaze the user by developing solutions that lead to amazement through an innovative and technological momentum that merges with the cultural reality described through the museum context. Finding mechanisms that allow the visitor to be involved and make it an active part of the context represents a challenging and stimulating objective in view of the Museum 3.0.
The app is available in two languages, Italian and English, and the voices that tell the story belong to professional actors. In addition to the initial page you can choose the most appropriate type of profile in order to personalize the reproduction of the contents.
